Summary: The viticulture hub in Guarapari-ES was implemented in 2018 with the varieties of Vitis labrusca L. BRS Carmem, Niagara Rosada, BRS Isabel and BRS Isis. This work aimed to identify JIP test parameters that can be used as biotechnological indicators of the vitality of Vitis Labrusca L. BRS Carmem and Niagara Rosada cultivars. Two pruning periods (September and April) were chosen to evaluate the performance of the cultivars under the climate of Guarapari in a 2x2x2 factorial, with two cultivars on two properties in two pruning times. The chlorophyll a fluorescence and chlorophyll index in each cultivar were evaluated weekly, following the phenological phases of the crop. The maximum chlorophyll index was obtained in phenophases (F) F4 and F5 in both cultivars and properties in the first pruning. 12 parameters were chosen with the potential to describe effects of the pruning season on the two cultivars from the JIP test according to the Factor Analysis of Mixed Data (FAMD) test. Regarding the parameters of the JIP test, the following were chosen: maximum quantum yield of PSII (P0); efficiency / probability of an electron moving beyond QA –(E0); quantum yield for electron transport (E0); probability of an electron being transported from the reduced plastocyanin to the electron accepting side of the PSI (R0); quantum yield of electron transport from Plastoquinone A - to the PSI final electron acceptors (R0); effective antenna size of an active reaction center (RC)( ABS/RC); electron transport by active RC (ET0/RC); energy flow retained by RC(TR0/RC); effective energy dissipation by active RC (DI0/RC); photosystem II performance index (PIABS); total performance index (up to FSI final electron acceptors) (PITOTAL) . Among the observed parameters, the role of electron flow reducing the final electron acceptors on the PSI acceptor side can be highlighted, by RC (RE0/RC) as it demonstrates the effect of temperature variation on changing photosynthetic efficiency in the cultivar Niagara Rosada. The BRS Carmem cultivar demonstrated greater photosynthetic aptitude in both pruning periods. The Niagara rosada cultivar demonstrated greater efficiency in September pruning.
